Parkdale Basement
This 600 sqft basement suite was a design-build project lead by Julian with team members from Makeshift Studio. The client wanted the basement of his semi-detached Parkdale house turned into a separate walk-in suite with increased daylighting and full kitchen. This required a full gut, floor-leveling, and re-plumbing of the space. A strong working relationship with the client allowed the team to take on all design-build responsibilities –a privilege and valuable hands-on experience in small-scale residential construction and interior finishing. Makeshift was later rehired to convert the paved backyard carport into a small vegetable garden with a back gate for more direct access from the laneway.
